Hymn Lyrics | All the Way My Savior Leads Me

All the way my Savior leads me - For I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me,
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living Bread.
Though my weary steps may falter
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see;
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Oh, the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father’s house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way;
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way.

We see in the story of Jonah a big fish that swallows him up when he is running from God … but we know – as he knew – that you cannot run from God. And God, in His loving wisdom, used a large fish to set Jonah back on the path he had been sent on. When we can’t see the end result, yet we know the path is hard – whether it be us running from God or desperately trying to run to Him – can we say “Whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well”? (We can see so clearly the good in the big fish in Jonah’s story, thus, the big fish on the lyrics above.)

Hebrews 13:5&6

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have,

for He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.

So we can confidently say,

The Lord is my helper;
    I will not fear;
what can man do to me?”

 Hebrews 4:15

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,

but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
