Work While You Work

work-while-you-workWe just finished memorizing Work by Anonymous and I wish we had memorized it years ago! It has been applied over and over again since we first read it and it has been encouraging them to create good habits, specifically, the habit of attention. We have had fun changing it to apply to specific scenarios – “eat while you eat!” “run while you run!”

Work, by Anonymous
Work while you work,
Play while you play,
This is the way
To be happy each day.
All that you do,
Do with your might;
Things done by halves
Are never done right.

  1. Hi, found your blog through Pinterest and have enjoyed clicking around. My sons and I just finished memorizing this poem as well and also found it very applicable! I came across it in the “First Language Lessons” and they have it attributed to M.A. Stodart. Just thought I’d share. 🙂

    • Oh thank you Jamey! I got the poem from that book, but it must have been an older version as the author isn’t listed. Thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it!
