The cycle of equipping the church is that souls are saved so souls are discipled so that souls are sent out so that more souls are saved so that more souls are discipled, so that more souls are sent, so that more souls are saved … this is a cycle worthy of striving towards.
Equip = make completely adequate.
…12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
We should desire unity of the faith and knowledge of Christ, striving to preserve the unity of the Spirit because the glory of His Son is at stake.
We need to look for opportunities to equip others and take advantage of the little moments. Everybody is shepherding somebody.
Develop, and encourage others to develop:
– Knowing how to pray
– A basic knowledge base of scripture
– How to work in secular employment and be faithful in the Lord’s things
– Reproduction; who will you invest in and repeat the process of development.
Strengthen in advance of problems – recognize problems that may lay ahead and strengthen yourself, your children, your fellow believers so that in the evil days to come you might be able to stand, because you are equipped. You will be able to stand firm with dignity and honor, not just mindlessly fighting for something you don’t really know.
It is that personal relationship, and ongoing fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ that will leave you unshaken in your walk with Him. So continue on – Fight the good fight. Finish the race that is set before you. Keep the faith.
December 30 – January 2 found our little family at a Bible conference in TN. It was wonderful – the solid teaching, the conversations with old friends, and the meeting of new friends. The overall theme of the conference was Fight Finish Keep and it was incredibly challenging and encouraging. This series of posts this week are a fleshing out of my notes taken from the general sessions and seminars I attended. The work invested in this content is not my own, I am simply sharing the things I learned from these teachers that spent hours and hours studying and preparing to share this. Audio recordings were done of the entire conference and I can find out where they can be purchased if anyone is interested.Related:
