Gallery Wall ~ {filling in some spaces}
2012
A few couple months ago I shared our gallery wall that hangs in our dining room. It’s one of my favorite walls but still has a few little spaces for additions. I’ve been keeping my eyes open for something just right to add in and a few weeks ago I found those rectangular frames {above, on the right}.
I knew they would be the perfect addition to the gallery wall and so, for a quarter each, I bought them from the local thrift store.
Two coats of white paint later the frames were ready to be added to the gallery wall. I will likely change out the art work in the frames, but for now they work well on the gallery wall and the extra boost of color is fun!
Frame one {above, on left} holds a painting that says “FAMILY” and has a random water color painting around the words.
I used stickers to spell out “family” and then painted abstractly over and around it with my water colors. The paints dried quickly and I peeled the stickers off to reveal the word and then framed it in black.
Frame two sits nicely around a chalkboard board {chalkboard paint on stiff cardboard, cut to size} and the sign reminds us; “Serve others with joy”.
The final frame is around a simple, cheerful painting of a hut and hammock between to palm trees.
The two paintings are the ones that will be eventually replaced as I find appropriate material to take their place.
The new frames fit seamlessly in on our gallery wall … and now looking at the wall in pictures reminds me that I need to get the boys to do new paintings for the large white frames!

Hi, Jessica — You don't know me, but I discovered your blog through a random Pinterest pin, and I love the space you have created. I am a mom of 3 boys (I think my oldest is about a year older than yours), and we are missionaries in Ecuador and planning on homeschooling. We have recently connected with a group of other missionaries/expats who are also homeschoolers, but I am always looking to expand my "virtual" support and idea network! I am putting your blog in my Google Reader so I can follow along. Blessings — Laura
Very nice to “meet” you!! Thanks for taking the time to say hi!
