Sriracha Sauce| Sea Salt

sriracha-SEA-SALTSriracha sauce is a staple in this home; my three use it on just about everything. Sriracha is a chili sauce that is great as a hot sauce on foods or mixed in dips or in meat marinades or stir fry … I am sure there are many other ways to love sriracha, but these are how we commonly use it.

After being devout lovers of the Huy Fong Sriracha brand, Paul found the Lee Kum Kee Sriracha sauce was free of preservatives and switched to it. It has a lot of negative reviews on Amazon, but we haven’t had any of those negative experiences and have been using it for a couple years now. sriracha-3

As I was thinking through gift ideas for this Christmas I decided to try some flavored salts.
I used some purple basil from our garden and it made a lovely purple salt, though not very flavorful.
I used some of my beloved maple syrup flakes mixed with a pinch of cinnamon for a sweet sea salt that will make a great sprinkle on sweet treats.sriracha-1

And then. Genius. Sriracha infused sea salt. The other salts were interesting, but this one is fantastic and recipe sharing worthy. While it was in its drying stage the guys kept snitching pinches of it. For sriracha lovers, it’s just delicious. If you don’t like hot sauce, I haven’t a clue what you will think of this. But in terms of gift giving, it is a gorgeous color and that counts for something.

Pair this with some (frozen) homemade gourmet burger patties for a unique homemade gift.
