Simplify. A Smaller Bedroom
2012
The whole “put away what you touch” habit for the month of April has inspired some pretty huge changes, mainly the switch between Paul’s {small} office and the boys {big} bedroom – they now sleep in the smaller of the two rooms and, with the addition of some efficient storage space, it has made a world of difference in their ability to put things away.
The smaller of the two globes is a lamp we picked up at what was boasted to be Alabama’s largest thrift store. {If you’re ever near Birmingham AL it is so worth a stop by The Foundry – we happened upon it compliments of a detour on I-20.}

oh good entry. i love storage.
Me too! The orange storage things are strictly for their treasures :-/ Rubber bands, string, stuffed animals, baby blankets, rocks … whatever their little hearts are attached to. It keeps all the junk (ahem… treasures…) in one orderly place
You have inspired big changes in our house too! We have been purging like crazy. We are sending box after box of items to Goodwill and on to friends and it is getting much easier to keep everything put away!
My kids share a very small room that holds just their beds, a bunch of books and a chair to read in. Their dressers won't even fit so they are in our room. The result is that the only mess that happens in there is if they pull out all the books – very easy to clean!
We have worked with a "family closet" for a long time now and have only recently begun keeping the boys clothes in their bedroom as they've started to take care of their things and put things away and not pull out a million outfits a day =)
They have a small dresser in their room (I was standing right in front of it when I took the picture) and then there is a closet, which we have two floor to ceiling bookshelves put in – SO nice to have those spaces.
I have heard a few people talk about a 7in7 challenge where they get rid of 7 bags of stuff in a week – I am kind of inspired and thinking of doing that soon!! I can't quite imagine where I'd come up with 7 bags, but it would be so good for me to try!!
