We do copy work every day – I write it on our homemade whiteboard and they sit at their kid size table. Their eyes look up, read, retain, write down, repeat. This method has helped them memorize the work they are writing, and the act of writing improves their writing. It’s a win, win!
Through this year of habit building I am building our copy work around the monthly habit – this month is thankfulness and while some of our copy work time is taken up with writing thank you notes, we are still working on writing and memorizing quotes and verses on the theme of thankfulness.
Thankfulness is being thankful to God for all of His blessings – those we see and those we do not see.
We have looked at a couple of verses that instruct us to give thanks.
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His steadfast love endures forever.
We are memorizing the hymn A Thousand, a Thousand Thanksgivings; printable version here – we sing this each day and discuss new words and concepts. New words are used in sentences to help familiarize them.
Pride slays thanksgiving, but a humble mind is the soil out of which thanks naturally grow. A proud man is seldom a grateful man, for he never thinks he gets as much as he deserves.
– Henry Ward Beecher
Our copy work is being done on the copy work paper I made and is available for printing at the bottom of this post.
