obedienceMarch’s habit is obedience and I had a hard time narrowing down the verses and quotes for this habit – there were many good ones by notable people throughout history! I finally settled on two quotes about obedience that I felt got to the essence of what I want my boys to know about obedience – Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s is practical while Robert E. Lee’s holds much wisdom – “lawful authority” is key.
There are many who attempt to assert themselves in a place of authority and yet they have none; it is not lawful authority. It is so important for children to know to whom it is that they are to be obedient in order to give them the confidence and courage to stand up when something is wrong.

definition-of-obedienceWe have defined obedience as :: submitting to the restraint or command of authority. Prompt, cheerful, and lasting. dietrich-bonhoeffer-obedienceYou can only learn what obedience is by obeying. – Dietrich Bonhoefferephesians-6-1Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. – Ephesians 6:1have-thine-own-way-LordOur hymn for this month is Have Thine Own Way Lord. robert-e-lee-obedience-quoteObedience to lawful authority is the foundation of manly character. – Robert E. Leeromans-5-19For just as through the obedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the One Man the many will be made righteous. – Romans 5:19

Our copy work is being done on the copy work paper I made and is available for printing at the bottom of this post.
