Put Away Things Without Being Asked {June’s Habit}
2012
There was a decided absence about June’s Habit on this blog - in part because we were gone for half the month, making a 30 day plan impossible to maintain. But also because our habit is a simple one: Put away things without being asked.
While it is simple in concept {so simple that while trying to decide what activities to tie into this habit if I had gone with a 30 day plan I couldn’t come up with much of anything as it is quite a literal habit!} it is not so simple to implement as a life habit.
How does one teach a child to put away things without being asked? Upon reflection of that I concluded that it would be by modeling the behavior for the child and for the child to know that is what the expectation is.
Our months habit has consisted of a little bit of me reminding them about what our habit is and personal responsibility a whole lot more of me trying to be consistent myself in remembering to put away my own things to model it for them.
{If you’ve been following the habits you may remember April’s habit was very similar – put away what you touch. This habit was meant to grow on that habit.}
July’s habit 31-daily plan Keeping Your Word will be posted next Monday!
